In Full Colour - reviewed on 06/29/01 Artist: DARIO G Label: 2001 Manifesto Records (UK) Style: Contemporary Dance Index #: 5488763 Manifesto |
| Review: |
You should be familiar
with DARIO G. and their club hit back from 1997 "Sunchyme"
or "Carnaval de Paris". DARIO
G. is a duet of PAUL SPENCER (born in England) and INGRID
STRAUMSTOYL (born in Norway) both now residing in Manchaster, UK.
The project itself was formed when Paul Spencer met producer
Scott Rosser back in his college years. The project didn't have
female vocalist, Ingrid joined them back in 2000. "In
Full Colour" is the project's second album after their
"Sunmachine" released
back in 1998. . Recently you might recognize their "Dream
To Me" tune originally recorded by CRANBERRIES back
in 1992. This tune topped as the third most popular title in their career.
What we have in new album is a truly diversified sound. By all means
it is not just a dance album but rather an eclectic journey to the sound
with strong emphasis on the lyrics and rarely used instruments. It will
be very hard to define the style of the album, because as I said it's
quite eclectic. So you will have some POP,
some DANCE, some NEW
AGE etc. The album starts with "Don't
You Cry". This is beautifully crafted DANCE
tune with amazing Ingrid voice and choirette in the background. Of course
"Dream To Me" is also there.
DARIO G. gave this CRANBERRIES' tune additional twist,
beatiful production indeed. There are actually many good tunes to listen
to. You should like "Say What's On Your Mind"
released as a single, or "Deja Vu"
done in transcendental HOUSE. For some
more EURO-TRANCE oriented sound turn for
"Never Too Late". The album closes
"Strobe" a dramatic epilog of
the journey! In sound sampler I featured 6 tunes taken from this albumFor more info about the group, visit their official page at www.dariog.co.uk |

We Bring Noise - reviewed on 06/26/01 Artist: SCOOTER Label: 2001 Sheffield Tunes/Edel Records (Germany) Style: Progressive/Techno/Underground Index #: 0110552 STU |
| Review: |
Fans of SCOOTER
were patiently waiting for the new album by this German group that has
been part of TECHNO scene for many years.
As you might remember few weeks SCOOTER released single "Posse
(I Need You On The Floor)" (check VIDEO
SECTION for clip of this tune) from this newly released album
entitled "We Bring The Noise". This
is indeed a very interesting and rewarding release. The album starts
with CELTIC intro tune "Habibi
Halua". Slow and mystic tune leading you to the entrance
of PROGRESSIVE TECHNO world. Yeah! It follows
by forementioned "Posse (I Need You On The
Floor)" the tune that will make your blood boiling. As a
matter of fact SCOOTER will keep you in this mood for most of
the playing time. "Acid Bomb"
is a speedy TECHNO as well, brilliantly
structured as a contemporary blaster with stron UNDERGROUND
undertone. Title song "We Bring The Noise"
is another stomper. The beginning features electronically stimulated
beating heart at higher rate. Yeah! Keep the heart pumping the blood.
Synths are again powerful and exciting with riveting melody and shouting
H.P. Baxxter! What else can you expect? "R
U Happy?" is a dub tune yet it's beat and drum work makes
this one an incredible offering for a club scene. Dramatic melodic line
will send you to orbit!. What makes this album unique in SCOOTER
career, is it's richness in sound and creativity. Probably one of the
best albums in their career. I do not exaggerate. You will not hear
just what you can easily expect from SCOOTER but much much more.
For instance "So What' cha Want?"
is a combination of TECHNO sound with some
DISCO buttom! No kidding! The effect is
quite surprising! For the HOUSE-oriented
crowd SCOOTER gave "Burn The House".
This is not just a HOUSE tune, but rather
BREAK BEAT. Synthesized voices also sound
cool! If you listen to it carefully, you will also hear some U 96
reminescence. Taken together, we have here very well done album, fans
of SCOOTER will warmly welcome! Once again SCOOTER proves
to be refreshing and creative! Way to go boys! In sound sampler I featured
6 tunes taken from this albumFor more info about the group, visit their official page at www.scootertechno.de |
