Title: Who's Afraid of ... - reviewed on 12/19/00
Artist: 666
Label: 2000 Dance Street / House Nation / ZYX (Germany)
Style: Techno

Review:

666 - Who's Afraid Of ... Some of you who follow the TECHNO scene should be familiar with 666. A project of two producers Thomas Detert and Mike Griesheimer. Both started many years ago when true EURODANCE was on the top with project ACTIVATE ( am sure you remember their super hit from 1995 "Save Me"). After this style faded they did try releasing several tunes. The success came in 1997 when they recorded first his as 666 "Alarma". While both guys were producing the album the frontman of the LIVE act became Rene with two dancing girls (Mandy & Karin) and two keyboard's men (Fabian & Mark). From the very beginning group was controversial because of extensive usage of diabolic and satanic elements. They had hard time to get airplayed and their videos were hardly showed. As a matter of fact at certain point the group considered changing their name to: Sex Sex Sex instead of Six Six Six (apocalyptic devil's symbol). In spite of this turmoil around the group they gained popularity and released two albums "Paradoxx" and "Nitemare". "Who's afraid of..." is the third one in their collection. The history of this album is actually quite interesting. It has been already released several months ago by Swedish label REMIXED RECORDS in DVD/CD format. This Swedish album not only contained audio tracks but all 666 fill length video clips. Disk itself caused many problems because it couldn't be played in every CD, that is why I was waiting for German edition. So finally it is. 14 tracks and some of them are already known because they were previously released as singles like "D.E.V.I.L." (featured in 2 versions) or "Bomba!". While most of the featured songs are recorded in characteristic for 666 style there are some "experimental" sound as well. For instance their "Dance 2 Disco" is recorded in very VENGABOYS-like style with almost identical music-line (the only difference is really deep, evil-like male vocal). Interestingly Thomas and Mike decided to "smuggle" EURODANCE track as well It is "Salute!", sang in Spanish. I really like this tune. Not exactly what we know 666 from, but very good dancable fare. You will like the bottom of it and fast beat. I like it! As a bonus the album features "The 666 New Millenium Megamix" with such tunes as: "D.E.V.I.L.", "Bomba!", "I'm Your Nitemare" and "Paradoxx". This is a good album with high flying synths and interesting melodic lines in most of the featured track. Definately worth of attention, and a must for the fans of this group. . In sound sampler I featured 6 tracks from this album. Enjoy!

Title: Two Worlds - reviewed on 12/08/00
Artist: ATB
Label: 2000 Kontor Records / Edel (Germany)
Style: Trance
Index #: 0117192CLU
Review:

ATB - Two Worlds So the long awaited album from Andre Tanneberger vel ATB is finally out. Morever, it is double album as you might predicted from the title "Two Worlds". The title is exactly about the album. First CD has subtitle: "The World Of Movement" and as you might guessed it contains mostly dance tunes. You should already be familiar with at least two tunes that were already released as singles: "The Summer" and "The Fields Of Love". The album starts with "See U Again". I really like this tune. The melodic line is very catchy and synth lines are superb. Great dance tune to be stumbled by. I also found tunes ATB performed with Heather Nova quite perplexing. Her voice has something from Enya, but is more powerful and loud. First of the featured tracks with her: "Love Will Find You" is a thrilling TRANCE/DREAM adventure. Similar is also "Feel You Like A River" with the angelic vocal throughout the track. For some more aggressive, rather TECHNO oriented tunes check "Loose The Gravity". It is quite monotonous, yet gives many sparklings here and there. You should enjoy uplifting melodic line. Likewise, quite "speedy" is "Bring It Back". Some relaxing dance tunes are on this CD as well. One of them is "Hypnotic Beach". It still has quite fast beat, yet the climate is more on chillout edge. The first CD is closed by DRUM'N'BASS oriented tune "Klankwelt". Quite psychedelic I might say. I am not sure where it came from, but I rather would skip it. While it lasts almost 8 minutes, only 2 last mins were actually acceptable for me. The second CD as subtitle "The Relaxing World" indicates is more to meditate to than doing anything else. I would like to draw your attention especially to "Enigmatic Encounter" ATB written with Michel Cretu of ENIGMA. Very interesting combination of two styles bringing a good hybrid of two talents. Taken together the album is a nice release. I am not really fulfilled, but hey! That's me. What makes this offering very interesting is the range of moods offered. It clearly shows that ATB is a talented artist in many musical genres. In sound sampler I featuring 6 tracks from this album. Hope you will enjoy the music! To really get a true idea about this release, you still have to get the real thing.

Review:

DUNE - History Long awaited album from DUNE is finally out! After two years they are back with full length release containing 14 tracks. Many of you might not be that much thrilled since as the title of the album "History" might suggests, it is a travel thru their past. Many of you probably remember that group started as HAPPY HARDCORE forefront leader with tunes like "Are You Ready To Fly", "Can't Stop Raving" and others. Both tunes are featured as well. Probably their most famous tune from the past: "Hardcore Vibes" is featured as well, but this time done more in BREAK BEAT style. Still like more the original! There are mor classics from their vault just to mention "Hand In Hand", "Million Miles From Home" or "Dark Side Of The Moon". I also found in here Sinead O'connor's "Nothing Compares 2 U". No kidding! Be prepared for a treat! Uplifting, high BPM tune, quite different from the original. Be prepared for a TECHNO ride! Some of you who were looking for more new material from DUNE should get their piece of pie as well. Three previously unreleased bonus tracks found their place in here: "Back To The Future", "Here I Am" and "Space Inviders". They are interesting, but my favorite is "Here I Am". This one is more like EURO-TRANCE with great beat and exciting synth lines that soar up and over the turbo-charged rhythm track. Truly an oustanding piece, hopefully to get released as single! Worth it! And when you finished listening to the CD, play KEEP THE SECRET game included with CD. You have to free Egyptian queen inprisoned in pyramid! Cool! Isn't it. In mix i included 6 tracks from the album. Enjoy!

Title: Wild Child - reviewed on 12/07/00

Label: 2000 Netrecord-z (Germany)
Style: Trance
Index #: 379.1001.2
Review:

LADY TOM - Wild Child I am thrilled that I can present you the debut album of LADY TOM, a Marc van Linden project. Several months ago, I presented you in VIDEO section with the clip to her live performance of "Loops & Tings 2000" a TECHNO classic by JENS, revamped to current dance sound. The "rediscovered" track immediately put LADY TOM on the top. So no wonder, her next single "House Of House" met equal excitement. It's De Donatis remix stormed club scene all over the Europe. After such success, the album was a natural way to go. So here it is, released couple of weeks ago double CD album contains both mentioned single as well as many new tracks. The music is indeed a superb TRANCE experience. Most of the tracks featured were produced by Marc van Linden. He also authored several of them just to mention transcendental TRANCE beauty "The Journey" where the synths are raised to a higher level of mental experience or "Motion" where galloping synths dominates entirely. This track also features cleverly implemented PIANO section giving it truly DREAM feeling. If you would like to endure yourself with more TECHNO-HOUSE sound try "Toonstruck". If you like Hypertrophy remixes try his interpretation of of "In Heaven". His version is a sophisticated, cutting-edge TECHNO/DREAM/TRANCE fare beautifully mastered to perfection. Album also contains her newest hit "It's A Dream" in THREE !!! versions. Part 1 delivers KAI TRACID-like sound with glorious strings and hooks. Part 2 retains similar feelings as the Part 1, yet it is more aggressive reminding underwater racing topped with siren's angelic female vocals in the background. The last version that is actually featured on the second CD was done more in PROGRESSIVE mood with fast pace, chasing synths. Great dance! Taken together, LADY TOM's album is a good offering showing her potentials in the future. Marc van Linden in team with other writers produced well rounded TRANCE album that should find place in your CD library. In sound sampler I am featuring mix containing 6 tracks from this album. Enjoy!

Title: Album - reviewed on 11/12/00
Artist: DJ SHAH
Label: 2000 Session-Group / ZYX (Germany)
Style: Techno/Trance
Index #: SG 90000-2
Review:

DJ SHAH - Album I was very pleased to see the album by DJ SHAH finally released. I was following his recent mixes and I liked the choices he made in his performances. He also did release some singles on his own just to mention "Riddim" or "Commandments". DJ SHAH likes TECHNO and TRANCE sound. So, obviously these style dominate in his album. Very fine and well balanced album with ultimate sound for your dance floor. Album contains 14 titles and all of them are brilliantly composed and arranged. It starts with dark, cosmic "Introduction" to set the mood you will falling when playing this album. Shimmering female vocals is giving you the lesson of what you should expect ending with words: "Be quiet and listen to the sound of DJ SHAH". You better obey this command. There is some similarity in the intro of "Claps" and one in "Hymn" by MUSIC INSTRUCTOR back from 1996, but tune falls more into TRANCE style. Turbo charged and synth rich tune. DJ SHAH also "re-worked" classic "Stand By Me" giving it explosive feel and making it a peak-hour monster. It sounds great in TECHNO style. Who would believe in that? "Universe Of Love" is very natural, "Beachball" oriented tune with after hour feel. Drama is building up when track progresses. "Commandments" brings memory back of the track by VOYOU back from 1990. It contains text of 10 Commandments given in preacher voice, with mysterious feeling and full orchestrated backgroud. "Watch Me Now" is passionately done TECHNO-HOUSE-ish tune with laidback feel. For full blown TRANCE you should definately check "Melomania" or "Don't Cry". Taken together we are being handed a very mature and prefectly done album that satisfy most demanding fans of TRANCE and TECHNO sound. I prepared mix containing 8 tracks from this album. Enjoy!

Artist: UNITED BEATZ OF FLOORFILLA
Label: 2000 ZYX (Germany)
Style: Techno/Trance
Index #: ZYX 20573-2
Review:
UNITED BEATZ OF FLOORFILLA Finally album for relatively new project of Italian DJ CERLA called FLOORFILLA. "United Beatz Of Floorfilla" brings all his current hits like "Anthem !, #2, #3, #4". Album starts with "Enter The Arena", sang in French. No wonder DJ Cerla performed recently in Paris. Track itself is rather HAPPY TECHNO, quite cute and rhythmic. As a matter of fact entire album caters to thisstyle. Do not expect hard charged TECHNO, rather more energetic, bass riched and synths oriented tunes. Many new, previously unreleased tunes. For instance "TR (Technoromance)" is very uplifiting TRANCE fare with female vocals on the edge of kid's tune. To enter more DARK side of FLOORFILLA you are invited to listen to "Cokeman". In contrary this one is rather dark TECHNO spinner, with deep male vocals pitched down a bit, to create additional sound effect. Track builds up to the anthem-like in the middle. A blast to play and listen to. "The Hypno" is tantalizing and hypnotic fare with interestingly build reverb effect and repeated, simple lyrics in male vocals. If you like more BREAK-BEAT oriented sound, try "Mr. Q Screams Out". This one definately could be called "Floorfilla meets Zombie Nation" :-) How about TECHNO-REGGAE? I am not even sure if such style exists, but heck, "Le Son de Floorfilla" sound like combination of uplifting TECHNO with low beat of REGGAE. Another French-lyrics tune. Do you remember Lil Louie? In same mode is recorded "A Night In Europe". It's HOUSE-ish track with lotsa female moaning. Taken together an interesting album. In sound sampler I featured 6 tracks taken from this album.

Title: Fiesta - reviewed on 10/17/00
Artist: MIRANDA
Label: 2000 Total Music/Universal Music (Venezuela)
Style: Dance/Latino
Index #: TMCD030-2
Review:

MIRANDA - Fiesta Today let me present you album by MIRANDA released by Total Music in Venezuela. If you are into dance sound you probably knoe her several very successful singles like "El Dorado" "A La Fiesta" or "Vamos A La Playa". This female artist represents the LATINO DANCE genre. Wll, let me make more clear though. Her music falls more into EURODANCE/LATINO sound though. While LATINO elements are present in most of the featured tracks, this album is actually pure DANCE. Nature enpowered MIRANDA with strong voice reminding me one by VIVIANA from now defunct Italian group DA BLITZ. Actually the first track on this album "El Dorado" sounds quite similar to songs done by VIVIANA. "El Dorado" is classic EURODANCE with great beat and feel. Same goes to more LATINO-oriented "Vamos A La Playa". For EURO-REGGAE fans she has "Baila" or "Max" . Both are sunny tracks, perfect for summertime on the beach. For more EURO-HOUSE oriented crowd, "Do It (Get Down On It)" would be great choice. Another lawish DANCE track "Summertime" is a good offering for dance floor. With melodic hooks and uplifting feelings you will get into the mood in no time. If you wondered how LATINO-TECHNO might sound, I would suggest to try "Special DJ" tune. Basically, entire album gives you good dance rhythm and would make any party goes boom. These days when TECHNO/TRANCE dominates dance floor, such album as one presented by MIRANDA is rarity. So, if you like dance and got bored with TECHNO, get this one for a change. For sound sampler I picked 6 tracks. Enjoy the sound and let's get dance !!!

Index #: 549 244-2
Review:

MAURO PICOTTO - The Album After several highly acclaimed singles in past year like "Iguana", "Pegasus" or the most current one "Komodo", MAURO PICOTTO came out with the album. By now, you should be familiar with his music as composer and his ability to lead clubs as DJ based on two MONTHLY video posted as SPECIAL VIDEO MIX for September and October. He like to play PROGRESSIVE HOUSE the most and it is also the music he likes to compose. This album is exactly it. Full of dark and heavy PROGRESSIVE HOUSE tunes. If you will be able to get limited edition of this album (presented here), you will find two CDs. The second one contains mostly tracks categorized as CHILLED sound. Sound usually played at the end of party to cool down the crowd. Let's get back to the first CD. You will find here forementioned tracks as well as other brand new tunes. Expect good TECHNO/PROGRESSIVE sound to be easily plugged in the clubs! The tracks are mixed but were not shortened, so even if they flow from one to another you still can distinguis where the breaks are. So it will satisfy both categories of listeners. One that like mixes and one that do not. If you like MAURO and his style this album will please you. Tracks like "Planet" or "Ultimahora Ibiza" with hard charged synth work and sharp buttom will put you to RAVE mood. This album is not for geeks or nerds. You have to have heart for deep, massive club sound to enjoy the punch lines MAURO delivers in his music. Delicious club offering from the master of hard TECHNO is within your hands. Get it ! Title: Das Album - reviewed on 10/13/00
Artist: DAS SAINT
Label: 2000 Scoop Records (Denmark)
Style: Happy Trance/Dance
Index #: Scoop48023-2
Review:

DAS SAINT - The Album Danish dance scene is quite interesting. Let me present today DAS SAINT a project born back in 1999 featuring basketball player and fotomodel SAMAD CHRIFI. The project produced by BALTAZAR has already three singles in their account: "I Wanna See U Sweat", "This Is My Life" and "One More Time". The debut album "Das Tracks" was released on September 29, 2000 and features all these singles along with several brand new tunes. The featured music combines artfully done synth work with dark male vocals. It is not just definitive TRANCE or TECHNO but rather combination of both with influence of contemporary DANCE. Actually you can find some similarities to BROOKLYN BOUNCE, AQUAGEN or other TECHNO groups yet the project has its own image. This is rich album. The featured tracks deliver powerful sound and interesting instrumentation. "This Is My Life" sounds like DR.ALBAN goes TECHNO venue. I have no idea what language it is sang but WOW, it does have the edge. You will like an incredibly catchy buttom that will haunt you. I was also impressed with "You & Me". This TECHNO-HOUSE tune blasts it's way to club scene. I am sure you will crave for more after listening to this one. The female vocal featured in this tune is incrediby sexy and desirable. You will also find Russian elements in this album. "Dasachioff" represents TRANCE-version of folk Russian ultimate song "Kat'usha" written back during WWII (thanks to Alex Levit for this info). Let me tell you, this version is something. I have to admit I never imagined that this song can be transformed to killer TRANCE tune. Try it! If you are looking for more PROGRESSIVE-TRANCE tune, look no further. "Das Theme" does the job! Taken together this is very interesting debut offering from this fairly known group. I believe with the music presented, this project has still a bright feature up front of them. For sound sampler I picked 6 tracks. I recommend this release to all TRANCE fans as a finding. You will probably not get it everywhere since it is local Danish release, but I think once you will have it (use the provided link), you should enjoy the sound.

NAGANO ALL STARS - Push It To The Limit Another Danish project worth of mentioning. NAGANO ALL STARS are Karina Thomsen, Lars Freising and Lars "Mini" Nielsen. They already have three singles out and they were all success. The debut album starts with the title song "Push It To The Limits". This tune I believe written especially for EURO 2000 Soccer event is an excellent DANCE/TRANCE marvel and reached top positions in European Hits Charts few months back. If you like ALICE DEEJAY you will cherish "Could I Be In Love With You". It has similar melodic line with synthesized wings you would like to use to fly. Hard-charging rhythm track that all but forced your feet to party. This album is full of DANCE tracks from EURO-edge. Take for instance "Wherever You Are". This is fantastic tune from the beginning to the end with some LATINO feeling in the background and TRANCE/HOUSE punch in between, deliciously served! For some HI-NRGY/TRANCE sound turn to "Let Love Shine On". Good vocal and rhythmic hooks to take you over. An instant hit! More contemporary EURO-HOUSE is represented by "Say (Don't Walk Away)". For another galloping EURO sound check "Why Worry" or "Hear You Calling". This album is probably closest to EURO sound you can get these days. It flourish with good tracks. amazing production and simple fun to listen to it and to dance to it. Female vocals is very good and well composed with songs line. Definately an important buy for each of you who are looking for good dance album. you cannot go wrong with this one. You will find 6 tracks taken from this album in sound sampler. Get it while you can because it might be too late in few days. ENJOY!

Title: Before The Storm - reviewed on 09/23/00
Artist: DARUDE
Label: 2000 16Inch Records/Stargate Music (Finnland)
Style: Techno
Index #: 74321 788112
Review:

DARUDE - Before The Storm It is my pleasure to review this album by DARUDE released on September 1, 2000. The project is driven by Finnish born Ville Virtanen. Probably his most famous track today is "Sandstorm" released several months ago that became a huge club success and made this young artist famous all over the Europe as well as beyond old continent. Ville started as DJ in school parties several years back and he grown as a very successful DJ and song writer being widely played in Finnish Radio, TV and clubs. DARUDE collaborates with well established Jaakko Salovaara (known as JS 16), man behind another famous project Bomfunk MC. As a matter of fact Jaakko was the guy who helped DARUDE to enter dance scene. With two successful singles: mentioned aboe "Sandstorm" , brand new "Feel The Beat" and this debut album "Before The Storm" he is making his way to the top of played and remixed DJs. His work was noticed by such DJs as Judge Jules from Ministry of Sound, Paul Van Dyk, Matt Darey, JS16 and others. If you start listening to this album you will clearly see that he was inspired by several TECHNO/TRANCE icons like Antiloop, Scooter, Faithless and others. His album contains both forementioned singles as well as several other titels and remixes. All together 11 of them. Among new titles are "Burning" an interesting TRANCE production with haunting strings and DREAM line indulged into amazing club monster to be. "Out Of Control" kick with TECHNO/TRANCE sound. Very bright and silky smooth production. If you like more TECHNO HOUSE, he did it as well. Look for instance at "Let The Music Take Control". It's perfect for Ibiza party if you will. Drum'N'Bass oriented "Drums Of New York" surely will stir your HOUSE oriented dance floor. Taken together it is well done album promising to have DARUDE around. He is definately happening in European dance floor and crosses Finnish borders. In sound sampler, I feature 6 tracks taken from this album. Don't forgert to visit VIDEO section where you will find the clip to his "Sandstorm". ENJOY!

Artist: AQUAGEN
Label: 2000 Dos Or Die (Germany)/ Bonnier Music (Sweden)
Style: Techno/Trance/Rave
Index #: BMSCD 4002
Review:

AQUAGEN - Abgehfaktor Finally the debut album by AQUAGEN a project of Olaf Dieckmann and Gino Monstesano was released in the end of August 2000. If you are following the TECHNO scene, you are probably already familiar with several singles by this project like "Ihr Seid So Leise" or hit "Partyalarm" both featured in the album. This album is a nicely packed and complete club set of tracks ranging from hot PROGRESSIVE and powerful tunes to more CHILLED sound. This should be a treat for anyone who likes quality TECHNO with dark PROGRESSIVE background. Group itself gained recognition among DJs playing this genre in relatively short time. Their first single "Ihr Seid So Leise". achieved GOLD status incredibly fast. Also "Partyalarm" also climbed as top hit in many TECHNO charts. Their newest single "Tanz Für Mich" with sexually aroused vocal by Ingo Appelt just entered charts. The album is full of phat beats that penetrating your body through your ears. With richness of TRANCE and GROOVE elements giving an incredible atmosphere, the album is definately a happening on dance scene. Both Olaf and Gino are proving themselves to be part of the genre's hall of fame. This debut album is a living proof of it. It guarantees skillful style changes throughout the album with quality retained in each and every featured track. I am sure you will enjoy the ride AQUAGEN prepared for you. Be ready, BE VERY READY !!! For sound sampler I have decided to feature 6 tracks that are brand new and so far appeared on this album only. For other you can check my site in places where Ireviewed various compilations, not to mention VIDEO section where you will find the clip to group's "Partyalarm" tune. ENJOY!

Title: Die Welt Gehört Mir - reviewed on 08/26/00
Artist: BLÜMCHEN
Label: 2000 PSP / Edel Records (Germany)
Style: Pop/Techno/Dance
Index #: 0069692ERE
Review:

BLÜMCHEN - Die welt gehört BLÜMCHEN is back with a brand new album entitled "Die Welt Gehört Wir" (engl. "The World Belongs To You") released in the end of June 2000 (fourth in her career). I did not have album earlier so please accept my apolgy for delivering info about it now. As you might expect she brings another well produced album. BLÜMCHEN clearly is searching for her own identity looking into various musical genres. Trying to stay with her old timers fans when she was recording more TECHNO-HARDCORE she is also getting attention of more mainstream, POP oriented crowd. No wonder, after all at her 20's she is still a very young artist with a bright future ahead of her. This album is all about this "transition". BLÜMCHEN did an ingenious connection between BALLAD-like tunes ("Denkst Du manchmal noch an mich" or "Ich vermisse Dich"), uptempo numbers ("Die Welt gehört mir", "Sehnsucht@herz.de") as well as several beautiful POP Songs ("Er ist so süss", "Wär ich Du"). BLÜMCHEN gave also some good TECHNO/TRANCE like "Wär Ich Du" or powerful "Detectiv". If you are really into this genre you will truly enjoy a dramatic and uplifting "Wie Der Blitz" with good HI-NRG beat. Major part of this album was produced by Hamburg-based producer - Paralyzer (he also did production for her previous albums). Three tracks were co-produced by Jeopard who also worked with artists and projects like Dieter Thomas Kuhn, U 96, Falco. Once again the album shows variety of BLÜMCHEN faces and enormous music talent highlighting her development and maturity. Fans of her will enjoy this release very much so. For sound sampler I have chosen 6 tracks and mixed them together.

Title: III - reviewed on 08/20/00
Artist: WHIGFIELD
Label: 2000 ZYX (Germany)
Style: Dance
Index #: ZYX 20570-2
Review:
WHIGFIELD III After almost three years since her last album released back in 1997 WHIGFIELD is back with brand new album. The vocalist Sannie Charlotte Carlson was born in Danish city Skaelskar. As a girl she already took music class and sang in local rock band. Her brothers arranged the meeting with one of the most important music producers Larry Pignagnoli and that's how her career as WHIGFIELD begun. Larry also produced this release. Album III contains 11 tracks and megamix. The first track on this album is a cover of "Be My Baby" originally by SIXTIES. This track was released as a single last year and became quite a popular tune played on the radio, TV and of course dance clubs. I am sure you remember WHIGFIELD from tracks like "Think of You", "Another Day", "Saturday Night" or "Sexy Eyes" (all of them featured in "Whigfield Megamix"). All these tracks were reperesenting Italian Dance in it's POP "edition". Well... be prepared for a change. I was really impressed how far WHIGFIELD went to deliver fully diversfied dance tracks. Many wonderful HI-NRG oriented tunes just to mention "Much More" or "Unbelievable". Both have updated sound with some interesting synth works. She also utilized some of VENGABOYS-like style. This is very clear in her "Makin' My Day". One of the most dynamic and energetic songs in this album is unquestionably "Waitin' For Saturday". Powerful EURODANCE tune to die for. The album is closed by "Whigfield Megamix". This is very good for all of you who would like to get an idea how WHIGFIELD sounded few years back with her most known hits! Taken together very nice release and hopefully this talented artist will deliver more. The sound sampler features 6 tracks from this album.

Title: Caly swiat nalezy do nas - reviewed on 08/06/00
Artist: D-BOMB
Label: 2000 SOFT LINE (Poland)
Style: Euro/Dance
Index #: soft-002
Review:

D-BOMB - Caly swiat nalezt do nas I am presenting you with the newest release from this presently best DANCE Polish group D-BOMB. Last year I presented you with their "Back Again" album. This time it is released in July "Caly swiat nalezy do nas" (engl: "The Whole World Belongs To Us"). If you recently visited SINGLES reviewed in 2000 Section, you should be already familiar with the single "Dobrze robie" from this album. Two versions of this EURO-HOUSE tune are included, as well as video clip to this song. If you liked "Back Again" album you will like this one as well. This talented trio delivered incredibly catchy and perfectly produced and arranged marvel. If you like EURO-TRANCE you will find many cutting edge tunes from this genre. Let's take for instance "Ciebie Brak" (engl. "I Miss You"). Group gave here the best TRANCE German school yet the sound is unique with magnificent melodic line and synth lines. For more hard TECHNO BEAT ala RED 5 you should check "After Midnight". This is plainly slamming club track! RAP has been accompanied with the female vocals (new vocalist Agnieszka replaced Monika from last album). Another excellent EURO-TRANCE in edge of EURODANCE fare is "Zapragnij mnie" (engl. "Sex Me Up"). Swirling rhythms cross with lush synth work. Delicious. If you are into EURO-HOUSE check "Potrzebuje teraz" (engl. "I Need You Now") for instance. As I said before , you will hear influences of Europen TECHNO/TRANCE formation. For instance "Ja jestem b.o.m.b.a." (engl. "I Am The B.O.M.B.") seems to be very 666-alike. Similar melodic line highlighted by infectious rhythmic punch like we heard in "Alarma", but again group retains it's own originality. So taken together, next outstanding release from this Polish dance project. Most of the tracks are sang in Polish but group is also well prepared to sing in English. With music talent (not only singing by writing texts) like this, no wonder that group is catching attention of dance music industry. Album is available in limited quantitites from www.europemusic.com if you would like to buy it. I personally recommend this purchase. For sound sampler I picked 6 tracks and mixed them together for more than 9 minutes listening experience.

Title: Swipe Me - reviewed on 08/06/00
Artist: BARCODE BROTHERS
Label: 2000 Universal Music (Denmark)
Style: Ambient Techno/Pop
Index #: 157 115-2
Review:
BARCODE BROTHERS - Swipe Me This Danish formation has been established back in 1999 by two guys: Christian Møller Nielsen and Anders Øland, producer, composer and DJ with his hands on some production for Ace of Base, Aqua etc. Group released for singles up to date and on July 5th their debut album "Swipe Me" hit the streets. The music played by BARCODE BROTHERS oscillates between TECHNO POP and TRANCE and such diversity is very well presented in this very well done album. You will also find here more nostalgic almost NEW AGE climates. This album is not just a dance album, you are presented with tracks that will raise your imagination and will stimulate your mind. Interludes that are part of this album will help you to shift from one to another climate. This offering from BARCODE BROTHERS is indeed a proposal for a wide range of listeners. So let's look at some of the tracks. "Dooh Dooh" released as a single back in June 1999 got it's Grammy award. This POP-TRANCEY track places you in transcendental journey, has it's own character. Another track "Tele" was also released a single. Another TRANCE track with good beat and melodic line reminding a bit famous track from the past by VISAGE "Fade To Grey". Quite recently revamped by Miss Jane "It's A Fine Day" was also processed by BARCODE BROTHERS. Their version is dynamic with incredible synth work. This remake surealy is packing dancefloor. Definately the best track on this CD is "Keep Me From The Rain". This is beautifully done EURO-TRANCE with luscious keyboard and dazzling synthesizers propelling the equally powerful melody and female vocal ala Alice Deejay provided by Kristine Blond. Another sizzling production was delivered in "Train". Solid, uplifting production delivering thundering bottom with the electronically processed sound of running train. Gorgeous! So taken together, this album definately should catch your attention. Well produced contains good music to dance to or to listen to and should be part of your collection. The mix from this album contains 6 representative tracks.

Title: Stormjunkie - reviewed on 08/06/00
Artist: STORM
Label: 2000 Zeigeist/Polydor (Germany)
Style: Techno/Rave
Index #: 543 914-2
Review:

STORM - Stormjunkie We finally have the full album from this HARD TECHNO German project of DJ Mark Spoon. You should be familiar with singles like "Storm", Time To Burn" or "Huri-Khan". I also posted several video clips of their songs in VIDEO Section. Definately club oriented CD that will put your Techno floor on fire. Featured tracks are in general TECHNO/RAVE oriented and really put you in club mood when you listening to the album. All previous singles are included by several new tracks are featured as well. Some are indeed amazing. For instance "The Return" is very similar to remixes of "Age Of Love" by Age Of Love done by Jam & Spoon few years back. Truly a monumental TECHNO fare and probably one of the best new one in this album. "The Fly" is spectacular club synth enpowered tune. Another perfect choice for dance scene. Another track "Organic Storm" is recorded in AMBIENT TECHNO style. Quite addictive when you listen to it for couple of times. If you need some RAVE tune, turn to "Rockit In Da Space". Fare is rather monotonic, however perfect for dance scene. You will like evil snippets interspersed hypnotically throught this mind numbing, hard-hitting RAVE experience. Perfect! The album closes "Love Is Here To Stay" another powerful club circuit beauty with dazzling synths and interesting female vocals that is rising with the tune. You should get limited edition of this album that includes also second CD (listed below). This CD contains an exclusive live mix done by DJ Mark Spoon at Club Blizzard in Katmandu. Pretty cool. In sound sampler I am featuring mix containing 6 tracks from this album. Enjoy!
